Daphne leaving the Calvin Klein show. I know she has kids and stuff…and to my knowledge she’s not a druggie…but…in many ways, she really is like a modern-day version of Edie Sedgwick. They certainly resemble each other somewhat physically – and she conveys that poor-little-rich-girl-lost-in-the-art/fashion-world vibe that was Edie’s trademark. I couldn’t help but notice the similarities on this day as she was wearing this cool retro-inspired, high-necked, long-sleeved, stripey frock…this look is ready to go from dinner at a posh uptown restaurant to a new art opening downtown. I’m sure Andy would have loved her.

I first met sexy student Dani during London Fashion Week a few seasons ago…we met up the other day at the Standard Hotel before heading over to the DVF show in the tents. I love the nerd-glasses-meets-sheer-black-fabric look I often see her in these days…naughty girl. xx

Hi – so here are the last of my street style photos from my recent Stockholm trip. Ahh Stockholm – I really love it there. It’s one of my top 5 cities worldwide for street fashion. (My other favorite places to shoot are London, New York, Tokyo, and Sydney – just FYI.) This time around I was in town for Fashion Week by Berns…an event that recently has become a mandatory stop on the RTW fashion week circuit every season. I’m back home in NYC now for a little event you might have heard of called New York Fashion Week…more about that very soon…but for now, I’ll leave you with a few of my favorite things about Stockholm this season – tack sa mycket!
Best show – Filippa K. The clothes, the models, the music, the venue – this show felt the most like a New York or Paris production. The mystery girl who played piano and sang while the models walked nearly upstaged the clothes. The venue – the not-yet-open Stockholm photography museum – was a great setting. Definitely want to go back and check this museum out when it opens.
Favorite runway model – Frida Gustavsson. I met her and shot her photo in Sweden several times when she first began modeling – around a year and a half ago. She’s a rising star now and I’m happy to see that she’s still sweet as ever and down-to-earth…even though she towers above the earth…man, is she tall. Love her.
Favorite Mr. Newton street muse – Filippa S. This stunning Swedish redhead is another rising star if you ask me. My photo of her wearing a vintage fake fur from Beyond Retro received 100 comments on lookbook.nu. Hey Filippa – can you send some of your fans over to my site please?
Favorite food – a tie between the fresh-fried-herring-and-homemade-mashed-potatoes wrap at Nystekt Stromming…and amazing clam chowder with potatoes, thyme, bacon, milk, cream, and chili oil at the tiny Sibiriens Soppkok aka “Siberian Soup Kitchen”.
Favorite swimming pool in the middle of a blizzard – Liljeholmsbadet. This heartbreaker of a swimming pool (and sauna) sits on pontoons on Lake Malaren and was constructed in the late 1920’s and opened in 1930. Do like me if you visit Stockholm in the winter and walk through snow and ice to swim 20 or 30 laps and sit naked in the sauna with the Swedes. It’s not open in the summer, doesn’t have a web page, and is mostly used by old people. A truly authentic experience and old-school Scandinavian to the core.
